Past meets: Gloucester - 2014

Project Propeller is an annual reunion for 150+ WW2 aircrew, to which they are flown from all over the UK in light aircraft by current volunteer pilots.

It is now over for another year – a big thank-you to those of you who gave so generously of your time and aircraft to provide the WW2 veterans with their annual get-together, and to the people of Gloucester Airport and the Jet Age Museum, who were so generous with their time and resources.

Once again, the organisers have received a lot of appreciative messages through the forums and by e-mail & phone this year and there was a lot of favourable press [(1)(2)(3)(4)(5)(6)(7)] and TV coverage ( And one thank-you letter from a first-timer veteran said that the huge pleasure of being able to fly the aircraft en route and to trade humorous banter and insults with wartime comrades left him feeling ‘rejuvenated’!.

It typically costs over £4,000 to stage PP (marquee, catering, entertainment, etc.) and it is tough to break even.
